We have devised the following exercises for people who wish to progress beyond the Gold Award

​
1.  Cleanliness, Identification & Temperament test
Handler has supply of "poo" bags, Correct marked I.D. discs & Micro chipped, Temperament test to comprise of examiner quietly approaching Dog on the lead and running hands gently down the Dogs back.  Dog to remain calm & settled without any aggression.

2.  5 minute down stay
Dogs to be positioned according to handlers choice and when ready will be commanded  to remain in  that position by Handler. Handlers will be required to be at least 15 paces from Dogs. Any movement from the original positioning, during or upon return of the Handler will be marked  as not ready.

3.  Stop the Dog on Send away (Outside)
Dog will be sent away from handler in a direction specified by the Examiner. At a distance of between 10 to 20 paces the Handler will command the Dog to stop. Upon the "stop" command the Dog should visibly react and come to a halt within a satisfactory distance according to the Breed, size & demeanour.

4.  Retrieve any Article
Starting with the Dog in the sit position by the Handler, the Examiner will ask the handler to throw  their article in the direction specified, for a distance of not less than 10 paces. Examiner will command the Handler will send away the Dog to retrieve, and return to Handlers front. On command the Handler will take the article and send the Dog to heel.

5.  Recall from up to 40 paces (Outside with Distractions)
With the Dog in any position, upon the Examiners command the handler will command the Dog & distance themselves 35/40 paces from their Dog in the position determined by the Examiner. A Dog & Handler will act as a distraction by walking parallel to the "recall line".  On the Examiners command the Dog & Handler acting as the distraction will start walking towards the Dog under test  and at the halfway point the Examiner will ask the Handler under test to recall their Dog. The Dog under test should return to Handler without hesitation or deviation.

6.  Off lead heelwork (Inside & Outside)
Following the Examiners directions the Dog & Handler will execute a a minimum of two left, right & about turns which will incorporate opportunities to carry out a Sit & Down stay with recalls on the move.

7.  Scent Discrimination
Using up to a total of six decoy items, an article which has the handlers scent will be placed within the grouping without being observed by the Dog. The Dog will be required to retrieve the article and return to the Handler. On command the handler to take article & send dog to heel.

8.  Distance control
From a distance of not less than 10 paces the Examiner will call out a minimum of six consecutive commands, in no order from Sit, Down or Stand using each at least once. Dogs can be tested individually or up to a maximum of four.

9.  Examination of the Dog
Handler will demonstrate they can settle and examine their dog whilst on the lead. inspecting the mouth, teeth, throat, eyes, ears, body and legs in the most convenient positions for the Breed/size of Dog.
